Reasons for Learning French

French is the native - or at least official - language in several countries around the world, such as France, Francophone Africa, Haiti, Switzerland, Belgium and Canada. Even in the USA there are parts of the states of Louisiana and Maine where the majority of people are native French speakers. Many international organizations also use French as one of their official languages, such as the International Olympic Committee, all United Nations agencies, the World Trade Organization, etc. Thus, French could be the ideal choice if you’re looking to learn a second language, whether for professional or travel reasons, or just for your own personal enrichment. Learning Chinese Has Become a Necessity

The last two decades have seen a tremendous rise in the strength of the Chinese economy and its interconnection with the global economy. During the same period, China’s reserves of foreign currency have grown immensely to become the world’s biggest. Therefore, it’s no surprise that people in many countries are becoming more and more interested in doing business with China and, in order to do so, they are looking to learn the Chinese language.

Napoleon Bonaparte once said that “China is the sleeping giant. Let her lie and sleep, for when she awakens she will tremble the world.” Nearly two centuries after that visionary statement of the legendary man, China’s dormant economy has emerged so dramatically that the economic power held by the country now directly affects and facilitates the pace of the global market. Why Learn a New Language?

Nowadays, in the age of global economics and understanding, it’s often no longer a case of personal choice whether we want to learn a foreign language or not - on many occasions it’s a sheer necessity. Whether the need is professional, financial or personal, for anyone who wants to be considered successful, learning a foreign language - at least one - is more an obligation than a preference. In this article we’re going to look at just 5 of the main reasons that may  be behind a person’s decision to take the plunge and learn a new language.

1. Professional Requirement

This is probably the main reason for which one would learn a foreign language. Many professions require the knowledge of at least one or two foreign languages, depending on the field of the job. Most jobs may ask that you know an international language such as English, French, Spanish or German or a business-specific language such as Chinese, Japanese, Russian and so forth. If you’re a native English speaker you may have it a bit easier, since English is the main international language (and one that is present the most often in job descriptions) but knowing a secondary language might also prove vital on many occasions. Learn a Foreign Language Online

There are a lot of different reasons why someone might want to learn a foreign language. Perhaps your reason is professional: you might need it to do your job better, or maybe to find another job with better salary and prospects. Some people learn a foreign language to make their travels easier and more rewarding. Others find language learning a mental challenge and stimulation. Whatever your reason, you’ll be glad to know that it is now possible to learn a foreign language online - as long as you follow a few necessary guidelines.

The first requirement, obviously, is that the website and its method should be effective (more about that in a minute). Above all you should realize from the very beginning that learning a foreign language requires a lot of time, patience and perseverance. However, if you’re willing to invest that time and perseverance, you’ll find that being able to communicate with other people in their own language is a wonderful, almost indescribable and unequaled experience.
